The name of Monte Leon comes from long ago, because of a high rock that goes into the sea, that is like a lion. It is know since the explorer Fernando de Magallanes had it in the navigation letters.

On the Atlantic Ocean coast and Santa Cruz riverside, we can fish steelhead also birdwatching and Patagonian sea animals.

The main house is our lodge that we use when we fish the Santa Cruz River. Typical English architecture of Patagonia.

Santa Cruz River is the only significant steelhead river that flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Strong runs of steelhead, fish which seem to average 6-18 pounds, and the only one in the country that has steelheads. Is situated in Southern Patagonia in the 50° south latitude, it extends for 380 kms from the Andes to the Atlantic Ocean. It is 100 to 300mts wide. Two glacier lakes (Argentino & Viedma) show their emerald milk colour. It is a full-flowing river with the maximum temperature is 15° C in January and minimum 4° C in May. The Santa Cruz River is a difficult river that requires very good castings, heavy equipments and excellent technique of streamers.
